About the company

PMDC Ltd is a Solid Mineral Processing, Beneficiating, and Exploration Company founded in 1994. It is a Special Purpose Vehicle incorporated by the Plateau State Government. The Company principally promotes economically viable and technically feasible mineral-based Projects in the State to generate more revenue for economic growth. The identified Projects are to be actualized through public-private partnerships with interested Investors. A high-powered Board of Directors constitutes the policy-making organ of PMDC Ltd. This is backed up by a strong management team led by the Managing Director with an experienced staff base comprising Geologists, Geophysicists, Engineers, Economists, Accountants, and Administrators. 

The objectives for which the company is established among others are:

 

  • To acquire mining rights and titles for the Company’s operations;
  • To explore, exploit and process minerals that are available in Nigeria particularly Plateau State;
  • To process, refine, reduce and extract raw materials and minerals to their finish and/or semi-finish products;
  • To stimulate export potentials where raw materials of the State could reach international markets;

 

  • To offer Consultancy services, geological survey and research in the mineral sector;
  • To carry on the business of commission agents on mineral products/services, and to sell, import and export both refined and raw minerals;
  • To manufacture and deal in other goods and services and things of such nature that can in the opinion of the Company be conveniently manufactured or dealt in by the foregoing business.

Fields of expertise

Minerals Processing/Beneficiation

 The Company has available for its use, 3 disk magnetic separators, air flow machines, mini crushers that are used to upgrade tin, columbite and monazite minerals to 60%-85%. The company seeks to expand its production through public-private partnership to cater for exports. 

Exploration and Consultancy

We conduct geological surveys/mapping on any mineral location for individual, organizations and companies. Such minerals cover metallic, non-metallic, gemstones and industrial minerals. We are also engaged in research and advisory services.

Minerals Trading

PMDC Ltd is a company wholly owned by government and can guarantee to deliver. Hence, we trade in gemstones industrial minerals, metallic and non-metallic minerals. Our vision is to create a mineral hub where buyers and sellers in minerals will be engaged in virtual and physical trading.

Joint Ventures/Partnerships

The concept of PMDC Ltd is to exploit solid minerals in partnership with Investors. Currently, the company has three (3) public-private partnership agreements on Lead/Zinc minerals. Acquisition of mining titles on other minerals is in progress to woe more Investors to jointly mine, process and market the proceeds locally and/or internationally.

MR. MATHEWS DAWAP

Managing Director

Appointed Managing Director Plateau Mineral Development Company Limited by the Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang. He hails from Kagu in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Matthews commenced his early education at Holy Trinity Primary School, Maiduguri from 1971-1975 and LGED Primary School Kagu from 1975-176. He went to GSS Pankshin in 1976 and passed out in 1981.
He holds HND in management from the Plateau State Polytechnic, PGD Marketing from ATBU, 1997 Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management from Pan Atlantic University ( Lagos Business School ), Lagos. 2012.

Professional Body:
. National Institude of Marketing of Nigeria.

His working life started as Audit Officer 4, in the office of The Auditor General for the Federation, Lagos 1989-1990.

Glaxo-Smithkline:
Started as Sales Rep. and rose to Senior Customer Service Rep. in 1993-1996
He was the Sales Admin Manager, 1996-1997, Jos depot.
He became the District Manager North East sub-region from 1998-2000

He left Glaxo-Smithkline in 2000 for a then rejuvenated Metholatum Nigeria Limited as its General Manager Marketing but left one years after to set up KIMBERLEY-MATT Nig. Ltd. a Management and Marketing Consultancy outfit. His consulting efforts contributed in the Market launch of Zuki, a brand of pasteurised brink in Jos, Plateau State from 2003-2007.
In 2008-2011, he was the MD/CEO of Jomat Confectionaries in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State.
From 2011 until his recent appointment by the Governor of Plateau State in this capacity, he has been an active player in the mining industry and owns several leases cutting across Plateau, Bauchi and Adamawa States.

He is married to Plangnan Dawap and they have three children.

Engr. Sylvanus Wamyil

Deputy Managing Diretor

A Bachelor of Engineering graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1990 and also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi in 2013. He started his career in the Planning & Business Development Unit of PIPC Ltd in 1993 and later moved to the Plateau Minerals Development Company Ltd. During his career, he was seconded to the Plateau State Ministry of Science & Technology in the period 2005-2009 as the Director of Industry, Energy & Engineering. Engr. Sylvanus Wamyil is a Chartered Engineer with COREN (R.20,408) and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (22879). He has attended various seminars and workshop in the development of his career.

Mrs. Comfort Yusuf Armak

Administration and Human Resource

Mrs. Comfort Yusuf Armak has a Master’s Degree in public administration from NOUN, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies from Federal Polytechnic Bauchi. She is a member of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators. She started her career as a Confidential/Personal Secretary to the Managing Director of PMDC Ltd and rose to the current status of General Manager (Administration & Human Resources)

SECURITY/FAMILIARIZATION MEETING AT PMDC LTD

10th May, 2022

The Plateau Minerals Development Company (PMDC) organized a security and familiarization meeting with the host community, neighbour Agencies and Government Security outfits. The meeting was at the instance of Mr Martin Kwaplong, Managing Director of PMDC and his Management team. Amongst the participants were the representatives of the Gwom Rwei Zawan, Youth Leader, Vigilante Leader, Police and Civil Defense. The major aim of the session was to forestall future security breach on Government Properties and peaceful co-existence.

The advocacy was led by the Chapter President, Mrs Aishatu Ruth Abbah in which they sought for areas of collaboration. The MD of PMDC, Mr Martin B. Kwaplong congratulated the august visitors for the formation of the Association and pledged to encourage them through future partnerships and minerals trading.

Small scale miners can access loan facilities up to N100m- Minister of Mines and Steel Development

March 13, 2022

The Minster urged miners to form cooperative groups that would qualify and enable them access the loans government will facilitate for them. According to him, the miners’ cooperatives will access loan from between N2 million and N100 million, which they will repay in 15 years at five per cent interest rate per annum.
